The Dark World of New Age Gurus | Documentary

What does this excellent documentary reveal about the Law of Attraction and the many gurus who promote it?

The short answer is simple:

Don’t fall into the trap.

How many people do you personally know who have built a fortune or found the love of their life solely through the Law of Attraction?

The answer is probably about the same as the number of people who have won a life-changing fortune at a casino.

The Mechanism

To ensure that the theory can never truly be proven wrong, advocates of the Law of Attraction—and, more broadly, the modern New Age spirituality movement—use a very simple argument:

If you don’t obtain what you desire despite concentrating all your energy and positive thoughts on it, the problem must be you.

You’re told that you’re not doing it correctly.

You need to commit even more, attend additional workshops, get closer to your spiritual guide or guru, buy more books, meditate longer, or raise your “vibration.”

In reality, the old saying still holds true:

“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

One thing worth remembering is that these belief systems rarely provide objective evidence for their claims. Instead, followers are expected to accept everything on faith, without questioning it, because their guru or spiritual teacher supposedly possesses secret knowledge unavailable to the rest of humanity.

What About Morocco?

Increasingly, Moroccans from all walks of life are embracing this appealing—but scientifically unsupported—ideological movement.

According to the documentary, the greatest danger is that these movements often target the most vulnerable among us.

Those who are searching for meaning, direction, or relief from emotional suffering are naturally more susceptible to messages that promise extraordinary transformation.

The comparison is revealing:

The more lost, emotionally distressed, or overwhelmed a person feels, the more vulnerable they may become to promises of miraculous solutions.

A Final Observation

Millions of followers of the Law of Attraction, New Age spirituality, or modern Neo-Sufism have seen little or no measurable change in their lives.

No sudden fortunes have appeared.

No miraculous love stories have materialized.

And yet many continue to believe, much like habitual lottery players who convince themselves that “the next ticket might be the winning one.”
