Advice for Job Seekers

People are naturally focused on their own priorities. The question running through every employer’s mind is often: “What’s in it for me?”

Instead of focusing primarily on yourself by saying things like:

  • I’m proud to have earned this degree…
  • I’ve been unemployed since the COVID pandemic…

It is far more effective to focus on the value you can bring to the employer.

For example:

  • “Your team is managing a growing number of banking or investment projects but lacks the time to handle them efficiently. Optimizing investment files and streamlining processes is one of my specialties.”
  • “You’ve lost touch with former customers? Re-engaging inactive clients is one of my strengths. I specialize in CRM, data mining, and digital prospecting to help businesses rebuild customer relationships.”
  • “Is your real estate project—or any other product—not selling as well as you’d hoped? I’m passionate about sales and customer relationships, and I’d love the opportunity to help position your offering for better results.”

These are simply examples meant to illustrate the mindset—not templates to copy word for word.

Build Relationships, Not Just a CV

Finally, don’t rely solely on your résumé.

Invest time in building genuine professional relationships with potential employers. Connect with them individually on LinkedIn, start meaningful conversations, and make yourself memorable beyond your CV.

Also, don’t underestimate the value of your personal network. Family members, friends, former colleagues, classmates, and professional contacts can often open doors that job applications alone cannot.
