Just as some people only change their behavior on the road after surviving a serious accident, the coronavirus served as a wake-up call for the international community. It reminded governments and organizations of the importance of investing more in healthcare infrastructure and in strategies to prevent future crises of all kinds.
Going forward, governments will need to think beyond economic growth alone—and so will we.
My belief is that we will all emerge from this experience a little wiser.
